I live for food and I’m a massive advocate of Teesside, I set up my blog to share my food journey around the area as well as my cooking and baking habits. I’ve tried a lot of Teesside’s restaurants and always get asked where’s best to go, so I decided what better way to shout about Teesside and let people know what’s available than a blog so I created The Teesside Foodie to do just that!
Top 8 Teesside Happy Hours
Whether it’s a weekday or a weekend we all love a happy hour, but knowing what places have this cracking time or what day can be tricky to find. There’s nothing worse than arriving somewhere 10 minutes after happy hour/early bird, to make life a little bit easier I’ve rounded up a few of Teesside’s happy hours that aren’t too bad on the purse strings.
1. The Curing House, Middlesbrough
The Curing House is one of Middlesbrough’s best restaurants as listed by Tripadvisor and I can’t disagree! They have the best beef dripping chips and of course unbelievable charcuterie boards and there early bird menu is a must to try.
Early bird menu | 5-6pm | Tuesday - Saturday
£16 for 2 courses
£20 for 3 courses
2. Barbarossa, Middlesbrough
I’m still yet to try Barbarossa but I’ve never heard a bad review! They apparently serve the best pizza in Teesside and if you’re free from 4:30pm - 6:30pm you can get their famous sourdough pizzas from £5.96!
3. Brasserie Hudson Quay, Middlesbrough
Another independent to mention is Brasserie Hudson Quay, each day they have their market menu between 12pm and 2:30pm and oh my it all sounds so good!
Market Menu | 12:00 - 2:30pm
2 Courses £11.95 / 3 Courses £14.95
They also have a steak and pasta night every Thursday from 4pm which is worth a mention! You can get sirloin steak, beef dripping chips and salad or any pasta for just £20 for two people. (How insane?)
Another added bonus, if you’re an Independent Teesside card holder you can get 20% off food and drink when eating from the evening a la carte menu.
4. 12 Harland Place, Norton
I’m pretty certain I’ve had everything from the teatime menu and it’s always delicious. It’s amazing value and who can say no to a 12 Harland Place dessert either? I definitely recommend the braised beef and the pear and amaretto cheesecake!
Teatime menu | 4:00pm - 6:30pm | Monday - Saturday
2-Courses: £14.95 / 3-Courses: £17.95
5. Muse, Yarm
Their food is always beautifully presented and of course it goes without saying that it always tastes amazing. Their Prix Fixe menu is a great way to try what Muse has to offer, you won’t be disappointed!
12pm - 2.30pm | Monday - Saturday
5.30pm - 6.30pm | Monday - Friday
Two Courses £16 or with addition of paired wines £24/Three Courses £19 or with addition of paired wines £31
6. Jolsha, Norton
Jolsha’s banquet meal is hard to believe! They are one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Teesside, they’re banquet is jam packed with so many choices unlike others.
Every Wednesday and Sunday night, 4 course meal, £10.95
7. The Peppermill Bistro, Billingham
The Peppermill Bistro’s Early bird menu is again a great way to try what they have to offer, as a Billingham girl it’s hard to believe we have such a great restaurant in such a small town. So many people have never heard or visited Peppermill- it’s a must!
Tuesday - Thursday | 5pm - 7pm
Friday & Saturday | 5pm - 6pm
1 Course £13.00/ 2 Courses £16.50/ 3 Courses £20.00
8. Cafe Sapore, Hartburn, Stockton
Again I’ve never tried Cafe Sapore but I’ve heard a lot of great things! I thought I would include a Sunday Lunch option with 1 course £10.95/ 2 courses for £13.95/ 3 courses for £16.95.
They also have a steak night each Wednesday from 5:30pm to 9pm.
Choose from a Sirlion or Ribeye steak, hand cut chips, salad, a choice of sauces and a glass of red or white wine £29.95 per couple. This cafe-deli-bistro sounds right up my street!
